Independent research projects are my own ventures into topics both the business world and the public find interesting. Through these self-started projects, I apply textbook concepts to market research, data analysis, and creating business presentations getting me ready for a future professional career where I hope to make a difference.

Currently, there is a lack of information on how students are using AI tools in their studies, the impact on their academics and their concerns about using AI.  I am hoping to fill some of the information gap through this project.

My research focused on the current trends in AI tool usage among students, assessing the impact of the tools on their academic performance and learning processes, and identifying the concerns students have in using AI in their studies. 

The project involved surveys, personal interviews and desktop secondary research. I wanted to provide a comprehensive overview of how AI technologies are shaping student experiences in education, and to find the students' concerns in using AI tools. 

Research Survey Method

This exploratory research project surveyed 150 high school students to gauge their interest in market research, with an early balanced division between male and female respondents. Convenience and snowball sampling methods were used for their practicality and efficiency. 

My research was conducted through a "peer-to-peer" approach, this method leveraged peer trust and relatability, encouraging more honest and open responses. The questionnaire consisted mainly of multiple-choice questions, with some optional open-ended questions for more insights.

While these survey methods do not ensure a fully representative sample of the entire student population, they are appropriate for the exploratory nature of this research to identify initial trends and patterns which can serve as a foundation for further research with larger and more representative samples.
